CURRENT ROLE & RESEARCH
I am an NSF Graduate Research Fellow, Center for Collaborative Conservation Fellow, and interdisciplinary Ecology Master's student in the Bombaci Ecology & Conservation Lab and the Center for Human-Carnivore Coexistance at Colorado State University (CSU). I am the Indigenous Research and Data Governance Coordinator with the Mountain Sentinels and the Indigenous Land & Data Stewards Lab.
In harnessing these various collaborations and sources of expertise, my research aims to contribute to the development, application, and evaluation of ethical and socially-just practices in wildlife conservation and ecology. Specifically, my research focuses on the complementary weaving of Indigenous, social, ecological science in supporting Indigenous-led environmental stewardship in Southwestern Guatemala and the implementation and evaluation of Indigenous-centered ethics in conservation practice. This project was co-developed with the local rightsholders of La Bendición in collaboration with Trees, Water & People and the Utz Che’ Community Forestry Association to build and strengthen networks of research resilience and Indigenous-led knowledge generation in Central America.
